About Teach For Cambodia

First, Teach For Cambodia is a home-grown organization seeking to reimagine education and the social impact sector in Cambodia. We are not investing in infrastructure for schools but in future Cambodian leaders through the Teach For Cambodia Fellowship Program. These leaders, also known as Fellows, commit to teach full-time for two years in public school. During the two years, they participate in our training and support program geared towards building knowledge, mindset and skills to optimize Fellows’ impact on student outcomes. All Fellows are enrolled in a Master of Education program at our partner university, Royal University of Phnom Penh.

 

In the first year of operation, Teach For Cambodia successfully placed and developed its first cohort of 33 teaching Fellows across 9 schools serving 5,200 marginalized children. These promising future leaders with diverse backgrounds and education (including degrees in information technology, science, engineering, law, international relations, psychology, social work, etc.) have committed at least two years to teaching in rural regions in Kandal and Kampong Chhnang provinces and poor urban areas in Phnom Penh. As we look ahead to 2020 and beyond, Teach For Cambodia aims to have 100 Fellows serving 15,000 children, as well as over 30 alumni pursuing careers at all levels and across sectors to ensure system-level change—from teachers, to school leaders, to policymakers, to social innovators.

Position Description

The Recruitment & Selection Manager will work closely with the Associate Director of Recruitment & Selection to manage and execute on an interconnected strategy to recruit, select, and matriculate talented individuals into TFC’s Fellowship program. You are a hands-on leader who will collaborate with a team and across the organization to source, select, and secure the commitments of outstanding Fellows for the 2020 cohort of Teach For Cambodia.

 

Who We Look For

The Recruitment and Selection Manager is a networked, persuasive and learning-oriented individual. The Manager has strong organizational skills in planning and can manage multiple tasks and deadlines at the same time. The Manager is reliable in organizing events and managing projects. As a Manager, you can use relevant data to solve problems and make decisions.

 

Key Measures of Success

•             Recruit & select outstanding Fellows from diverse academic and socio-economic backgrounds to meet our annual goals

•             Elevate the brand of the Fellowship program to become the most prestigious graduate recruitment program within 3 years

•             Build an effective and efficient candidate outreach experience through research, data and insights

Key Responsibilities

•             Set big goals

o             Partner with functional leaders to set big goals

o             Help to set and achieve ambitious but feasible recruitment and selection goals

•             Plan purposefully and executive effectively

o             Build significant awareness of TFC’s Fellowship program across relevant markets aligned with functional and organizational strategy, and functional marketing and communications plan (e.g. campus leader program, social media marketing, etc.)

o             Build relationships with student leaders, youth programs, university officials and others to grow our network of champions and supporters

o             Develop and execute strategies for recruitment campaigns in specific markets

o             Develop strategies and benchmarks to support selection and matriculation goals

o             Organize activities and events to support recruitment, selection and matriculation

o             Maintain quality control over candidate outreach and communication process

•             Continually increase effectiveness

o             Input and analyze data to track and determine individual and overall effectiveness of recruitment strategies

o             Iterate upon individual and team approach to ensure vision and mission alignment

o             Support evaluation of selection activities and process

•             Contribute to a strong and positive team culture

o             Maintain sense of possibility and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges

o             Support the management and development of interns

Other Details

•             Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to successfully oversee and conduct recruitment, selection and matriculation activities and events during high season for the function (6-8 month period starting in January of each year). See benefits section for more info.

Education, Knowledge and Experience

•             Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field

•             Experience working in a dynamic environment and achieving high results

•             Experience managing campaigns and/or projects

•             Experience collecting, analyzing and using data (e.g. Salesforce) to inform strategic and tactical decision-making

•             Experience in marketing, communications, or project management preferred

•             Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Khmer
